Gothenburg is evolving
Gothenburg is growing dramatically at the moment and is preparing to make space for almost 700,000 residents by the year 2035 – that’s 150,000 more than today. This also means that Gothenburg is evolving. New houses are being built, and new residential areas and city districts are emerging on land previously used for industrial purposes. New roads, bridges, cycle paths and expanded public transport will make it easier to get around in the city, both for private individuals and the business sector. Gothenburg will go from being a large town, to a green and close city, where nothing is far away.

Gothenburg is facing its biggest development leap in modern history. The city will grow by nearly a third by 2035. We must make room for 150 000 people in Gothenburg and build 80,000 new homes and as many workplaces.
